Housing is a basic human requirement of any civilised society. With the growth of urbanisation,
cities have been expanding alarmingly in the last few decades, which has resulted in haphazard growth of urban areas as well
as acute housing shortage. Housing and Urban Planning Department was established to ensure planned development of urban areas
and create an enabling environment to provide affordable housing. The multiplicity of urban laws has always been a nightmare
for the urban populace. Lack of information and transparency in official transactions were some of the factors responsible for
this state of affairs. The Department has taken a step to reach the citizens to make them aware of the laws, policies,
programmes and procedural simplifications carried out.
